As the geographical term suggests, Sumadija is known for its wooded mountains, among which the most beautiful are Bukulja, Rudnik, Gledicke Mountains and Divcibare. These areas offer beautiful landscapes and many ways to enjoy the untouched nature. Bukulja is known for its large birch trees and the marvelous peak with unforgettable view of the surrounding valleys. Rudnik also has significant forest areas, and is particularly notable for its ore reserves (silver, zinc, copper), which were known back in the Middle Ages.

The Gledicke Mountains boast numerous hiking and biking trails, while Divcibare is famous for its magical landscapes and skiing facilities that are active during the winter season. The natural catalog of Sumadija is unimaginable without Velika Morava, a river that meanders through the region and has one of the longest watercourses in Serbia. This river is known for its clear water and fish stocks, making it a popular destination for rafting and fishing.

There is no lack of natural beauty in Western Serbia either, especially in the region of Tara and Zlatibor. Mount Tara, as part of a protected national park, offers spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and lakes. It is celebrated for its untouched nature, which is a habitat for many animal species, including bears, wolves and wild boars. Tara is a popular destination due to its numerous hiking and cycling trails. Its highest peak, Kozji Rid (1591m), offers an incredible view of the surroundings.

Besides the beautiful landscape, Zlatibor has numerous facilities for an active vacation. If you go along the mountain trails, you’ll have a complete experience of the abundant flora. Zlatibor is also valued for its mineral water springs, which are sought for their healing properties. Nearby Mokra Gora is widely known for its lavish nature and rural architecture. The main attraction here is the old Sarganska Osmica railway, built in 1925; the local tour is considered one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.

It is famous for its crystal clear water and spectacular canyons. The Drina is a favorite destination for rafting and fishing enthusiasts; also, there are many restaurants and cafes overlooking the river along its course. The pearls of the region are surely its lakes, including Zlatarsko Lake, Sjenica Lake and Perucac. Walks in pure nature, fishing and canoeing are just some of the recommended activities.
