A tour of Eastern Serbia is unthinkable without a visit to Golubac. The place is known for its imposing fortress, which is located on the very bank of the Danube; it is considered one of the most beautiful medieval sites in the country. Built in the 14th century, the fortress played an important role in protection against Turkish invaders. Nowadays it is open to visitors and offers an incredible view of the river and surrounding mountains. Another place that attracts tourists is Djerdap National Park. It is highly praised for its landscapes and cultural heritage, but above all for one of the most beautiful gorges in the world. The Djerdap Gorge is a protected nature reserve, rich in plant and animal species.

The region also hosts numerous archaeological sites, including Lepenski Vir as the most visited. This Neolithic settlement was discovered during the construction of the Djerdap hydroelectric plant in the 1960s. Various artifacts such as ceramic objects, stone tools and sculptures have been found at the site, all indispensable in the study of local history. The Tumane monastery, one of the most important cultural and historical buildings in the region, is located near the Golubac Fortress. It was built in the 14th century as a model of Serbian medieval architecture. The interior is known for its frescoes, which are considered the best preserved in Serbia.

One of the most impressive places in the region is Rtanj Mountain, which is shaped like a pyramid. It is located near Sokobanja and Zajecar, with height reaching 1565 meters. Rtanj is considered one of the most mysterious mountains in the world; according to legend, there is a pyramidal object on its top that hides the secret of the origin of mankind. Apart from the folklore, Rtanj is also known for its medicinal plants and rare bird species. Probably the oldest spa resort in Serbia, Sokobanja, is in the vicinity. The spa lies in a valley, surrounded by mountains Ozren and Devica, which provides perfect conditions for recreation and relaxation.

Another natural marvel is Djavolja Varos, one of the most visited tourist sites in Serbia. Located not far from Kursumlija, it represents a unique geological formation. The shapes were created by the erosion of earth and wind, which is best experiences at sunset when the stones take on incredible beauty. The great attraction of southern Serbia is certainly the Jerma river canyon, 21 kilometers long. It was formed by a local river, cutting its way through the mountains. The canyon is suitable for rafting, canoeing, but also for hiking tours through beautiful landscapes. Also, this area is full of interesting caves that attract speleology enthusiasts.

Located on the border of Serbia and Bulgaria, Stara Planina is famous for its crystal clear lakes, lush forests, waterfalls and mountain peaks. This is a great destination for fans of mountain tourism, but also for those who want to relax and enjoy untouched nature. The main attractions are Babin Zub mountain peak and Tupavica waterfall; Babin Zub (1758m) offers an incredible view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, while Tupavica presents a unique opportunity for taking landscape photos.

Lastly, we cannot overlook Nishka Spa and its widely praised mineral springs. It is located 10 km southeast of Nish, on the Nish-Sofia highway.
